For all you Carbon Offsetting sceptics out there, the Guardian website has a wonderful FAQ on offsetting, the pros and cons, and common misconceptions.
I was researching Carbon Offsetting today, and came across this site, listing the major providers of offsetting, whether they are for-profit of not-for profit (an important distinction in my opinion), and what methods they use to offset. For people living in Australia, it may be wise to find a fund that is also a recognised charity by the tax office, because then all your donations to the offsetter can be claimed as an expense against your income.
I also found this site, which is very clever and quite funny. Great spoof site.
